چکیده

The TerraSAR-X launched on June 15, 2007 is one of the most state of the art satellite sensors. Its sophisticated feature is in demand for the application for map generation and monitoring purposes. One of the basic products of TerraSAR-X is the Enhanced Ellipsoid Corrected (EEC) orthorectified image. The product is projected to map geometry and terrain induced distortions are corrected using a digital elevation model (DEM). The geometric accuracy of this product depends on the referred DEM. In this study, we evaluated the pixel location accuracy of the product by two methods. The method using corner reflectors shows that the pixel location accuracy of SSC product was better than 1 meter, and that of EEC product was better than 5 meter in the flat area. On the contrast, the pixel location accuracy of the mountain areas evaluated by comparison with digital maps was reduced. It reveals that the enhancement of the orthorectified product is necessary for considering the creation of the topographic maps using TerraSAR-X data. * Corresponding author.

Registration of Optical and Sar Satellite Images Based on Geometric Feature Templates

Image registration is required for different remote sensing applications, like change detection or image fusion. Since research studies have shown the outstanding absolute geometric accuracy of high resolution radar satellites images like TerraSAR-X, the importance of SAR images as source for geolocation enhancement has increased. Due to this fact, multi-sensor image to image registration of op...

Comparison of Orbit-Based and Time-Offset-Based Geometric Correction Models for SAR Satellite Imagery Based on Error Simulation

Geometric correction of SAR satellite imagery is the process to adjust the model parameters that define the relationship between ground and image coordinates. To achieve sub-pixel geolocation accuracy, the adoption of the appropriate geometric correction model and parameters is important. Until now, various geometric correction models have been developed and applied. However, it is still diffic...

Terrasar-x Data for Improving Geometric Accuracy of Optical High and Very High Resolution Satellite Data

Most high resolution optical images from space need ground control information (GCP) before an orthorectification can be performed. The very high geometric accuracy of geocoded data of the TerraSAR-X satellite has been shown in several investigations. This precision has been reached fully automatically without any GCP and is due to good sensor calibration, high accuracy of satellite position an...

Results from Terrasar-x Geometric and Radiometric Calibration

As TerraSAR-X, due for launch in June 2007, will be an operational scientific mission with commercial potential, product quality is of crucial importance. The success or failure of the mission essentially depends on the calibration of the TerraSAR-X system ensuring the product quality and the correct in-orbit operation of the entire SAR system. This paper describes the calibration procedures fo...

Potential of TerraSAR-X Interferometry for Monitoring Ground Deformation Due to Civil Infrastructure Construction

The TerraSAR-X SAR system provides high spatial resolution and geometric accuracy imagery which supports well the mapping of the 3-D structure of the city and its motions (4-D). In this work, we have evaluated potential of the very high resolution (VHR) satellite observations for monitoring and detecting ground deformation due to largescale civil infrastructure constructions. Two case studies w...
